The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it has uncovered a local gun factory in Kore Village, situated along Batsari Road, Batagarawa Local Government Area of the state, and arrested four suspects in connection with it.
The spokesperson of the command, SC Buhari Hamisu, disclosed this when he briefed newsmen on their activities on Friday.
According to Hamisu, during an operation by the command’s Special Rapid Response Squad, illegally fabricated guns and other items were successfully recovered.
He said: “On February 26, 2026, acting on credible intelligence, the Special Rapid Response Squad successfully uncovered and dismantled a suspected illegal arms fabrication factory.
“Upon receiving such credible information, the State Commandant directed the Squad for immediate response while ensuring professionalism.
“The team acted immediately, uncovered and dismantled the factory, seized weapons, fabricating equipment and apprehended four suspects.”
Hamisu added that the suspects included 28, 50, 30 and 25-year-old men who were apprehended inside the factory perpetuating the crime.

According to him, some of the exhibits recovered from the suspects were eight locally made skeletal rifles, five locally made pistol grips, four locally made magazines, and also one butt of a local rifle.
Other exhibits, he mentioned, included five local butts of local riffles, 20 pieces of locally made magazine parts, 21 pieces of metal, one carbide, one hurk saw, three hammers, and one spanner.
He added that the command also recovered one player, one hand saw, one grinder, two gas cylinders, one welding machine, 24 notes, and too motorcycles (Jincheng and Boxer).
Hamisu said: “The suspects are currently being investigated to uncover other syndicate members, suspected buyers and due diligence will be followed in their prosecution.
“The command under the leadership of Commandant Abbas Moriki, assures adequate security as it will not relent in its commitments to combat illicit arms proliferation, uncover all the activities of vandals, economic saboteurs and other criminals in the State.”
According to the spokesperson, Moriki thanked the public for the continuous cooperation and urged more support to the security agencies by providing actionable and timely intelligence that will help uncover the activities of miscreants.
