Alhaji Hamza Madagali, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State, has resigned alongside the State Working Committee and Executive members, and the 21 local government chairmen, with all of them defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Chairman confirmed this development on Friday at the secretariat of the party in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the development marks a significant political shift in the state and follows the defection of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to the APC.
Addressing party members, Madagali said the leadership direction of the governor required “collective alignment to sustain good governance and protect ongoing development”.
He described the decision as carefully considered after consultations with stakeholders across the state.
He said: “I, Alhaji Hamza Madagali, have resigned as Chairman and member of the PDP to join the APC with immediate effect.
“This is about continuity, stability, and securing greater dividends of democracy for our people.”
Madagali said the move was driven by the need to consolidate achievements recorded under the present administration.

He urged the executive members and local government chairmen to remain united and act in the overall interest of the state.
He added: “Unity will keep us strong and relevant.
“Together, let us remain committed to peace, stability, and the advancement of Adamawa.”
Madagali stressed that political realignment should not distract from governance or service delivery to citizens.
He maintained that their foremost responsibility remained the progress and welfare of Adamawa State above party interests.
He assured supporters that the transition would be peaceful and guided by respect for democratic principles.
