Rafiu Ladipo, President-General, Nigeria Football and Other Sports Supporters Club has lauded the leadership qualities of the body’s National Chairman, Samuel Ikpea, saying “they are at home with it’’.
Ladipo made the assertion as Ikpea marked his 50th birthday with a church service at the Assembly of Faithful Church which had a massive turnout of members of the club on Tuesday Lagos.
He described him as a good leader who went through the hierarchy of the club from being a member to an assistant secretary, national secretary, secretary-general and currently the chairman.
He said: “We are celebrating our own Ikpea who clocked 50 today, it’s a big merriment for us, and we are happy and proud of him because he’s doing marvelously well as our chairman.
“He’s been humbly following the activities of the club which has made his present position as our chairman impressive and it’s a welcome development for the supporters club.
“Ikpea is respectful, accommodating and hardworking and that is the reason for this massive turnout even outside the state, because it’s better to honour him on a day like this.’’
The NFSSC president-general while congratulating Ikpea, wished him more happy years, urging him to continue with his good works, adding that the club expected more from him.
The celebrator, Ikpea, told the News Agency of Nigeria that he was thrilled by the turnout of NFSSC members, friends, relations and well-wishers from across the country who found time to celebrate him.
He said that he chose to mark his 50th birthday because of the blessings of God and for giving him the grace and wisdom to pilot the affairs of the club as the national chairman.
Ikpa said: “I am just too happy with what is happening here today that people gathered on a Tuesday which is working day to celebrate with me, in short, I feel loved and great.
“I am grateful to God that I am alive and healthy to mark my 50th on earth among numerous wishes, I pray for long life to enable me serve meritoriously in the NFSSC.’’
Israel Ibironke, the Pastor of TAFC, said he was impressed with the visitors that came to celebrate with Ikpea who is also a reverend minister in the church.
Ibironke said that Ikpea had a good number of the church members who had committed to the progress of the church and youths and prayed for long life and good health.
He also confirmed Ikpea as a Reverend by ordaining him with the official garments which is a Cassock as a mark of his 50th birthday.
He added: “There is need for him to continue to work for God and the society and the sports sector, this is the reason God has honoured him today to remain focused.’’
