The South West Security Stakeholders Group has restated its commitment to secure Yorubaland, saying the group will not allow kidnappers to take over the region.
The South West security outfits also urged the six governors of the region to support their initiatives on security.
They said the initiatives are aimed at addressing the security scourge in the region, insisting that the group is ready to salvage the spate of insecurity in Yorubaland.
In a statement made available to the media shortly after the meeting with the leadership of the 15 security outfits in Ikeja, Lagos, State, the Publicity Secretary of the SSSG, Ireti Adewole, said there was an urgent need to restore peace and tranquility across the region.

The statement said: “The meeting held today is part of the ongoing efforts of the South West Security Stakeholders Group (SSSG) to ensure that Yorubaland is safe.
“We are not resting on our oars.
“We are determined to rid Yorubaland of kidnappers and bandits.
“The crux of our meeting is to set the agenda for securing the south west region from those uncivilized elements that are ravaging Yorubaland and making life unbearable for our kinsmen.
“The struggle is about creating the needed synergy to combat the spate of insecurity.
“It is about using the best approach to keep all the stakeholders on their toes.
“We are ready to keep marauders at bay and we will not fold our arms to allow evil men to overrun our region.”
Adewole appreciated the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, for convening the Yoruba security summit in Ile-Ife, Osun State, adding that the efforts of the foremost monarch would go a long way in combating the twin menace of kidnapping and banditry in the south west.
He pointed out also that the efforts of the Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, who is also the convener of SSSG, had paid off with the summit.
He added: As far as we are concerned, the progress made so far in nipping the rising insecurity in the bud in the south west is yielding results.
“We see the results with the Yoruba security summit in Ile Ife, which, of course, was the idea and initiative of our leader, Iba Gani Adams, and I believe many more security outfits will be coming on board to salvage Yorubaland.”
