The Federal Road Safety Corps has advised motorists on alternative routes to take after the collapse of Mowo Bridge on the Mokwa-Jebba Expressway.
The advice was contained in a statement by the FRSC Corps Education Officer, Commander Bisi Kazeem, on Sunday.
Kazeem had in an earlier statement on Sunday announced the collapse of the bridge due to heavy rainfall on Saturday night.
The same bridge was last year repaired by the Federal Government after it collapsed.
According to Kazeem, vehicular movement from both sides of the road is affected as there is no thorough fare as at the moment.
FRSC therefore advises motorists to ply Lokoja Road as an alternative if going to Lagos and Abuja in the interim.
Kazeem said the FRSC Corps Marshal, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, has ordered the immediate deployment of more personnel and logistics on the proposed alternative route to cater for the anticipated upsurge in vehicular movements along the route.
Oyeyemi called for caution amongst the motoring public, while the bridge is fixed promptly by the Government.
The Corps Marshal also ordered strict traffic surveillance by operatives of the Corps at the bridge head to avert any mishap.
