Former Edo State Deputy Governor, Lucky Imasuen, along with some members of the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday defected to the All Progressives Congress in Benin, the Edo State capital.
Some of the prominent defectors included a former House of Representative member and PDP Deputy Governorship candidate in the 2012 election, Johnson Abolagbe; and the state PDP Deputy Chairman, Christopher Adesotu, among others.
Receiving by the defectors, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State assured them of equal treatment in the party, adding that none of them would be victimised.
Imasuen, who was the coordinator of the SURE-P programme in Edo State, during President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, spoke on behalf of the former PDP chieftains and members.
The former PDP chieftain said that there was no need for them to remain under a “tattered” umbrella.
Imasuen said their determination to join the APC both at the state and national levels was their desire to take the nation to the next level.
