Fire guts shops under Apongbon Bridge, causes traffic gridlock + Video

Fire has gutted some shops under the Apongbon section of the Eko Bridge in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency confirmed the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to available information, following the fire outbreak, traffic has come to a standstill around the vicinity, spreading as far as Stadium Bus Stop in Surulere.

So also has traffic towards the area been diverted.

LASTMA said in a tweet on its Twitter handle: “Traffic from Eko bridge has been re-routed to Ebute-Ero to link inner marina.

“Men of fire service and other security agencies are still on the ground.

“Therefore, CMS bridge and Eko bridge inward/outward Apongbon is close to traffic at the moment.”
