In its renewed effort to fight crime and make the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja safe and secure for residents, the police have arrested one Sunday Ojo, 32, who hides under the guise of being a cab operator to rob and dispossess his unsuspecting passengers of cash and other valuables.
Ojo was said to have been arrested on April 12, 2017 at about 2:25pm by police operatives attached to Iddo Police Division.
This followed a discreet investigation of the suspect, who was arrested in his residence at Gbesa village for robbing his female passenger of the cash sum of N70,000, a wrist watch and her ATM card, which was used by the suspect to withdraw N100,000 from the victim’s bank account.
According to the victim (names withheld), she boarded the suspect’s car along Airport Road, Lugbe, but was diverted by the suspect to Jedo Estate, Sabon Lugbe, where she was robbed her valuables.
The suspect, in whose apartment the victim’s wrist watch and SIM card were recovered, has confessed to the crime and is helping the Police in its investigation.
A statement by the spokesman of the FCT Police Command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said in compliance with the directives of the Commissioner of Police for the FCT, Musa Kimo, the suspect has been transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
