Governor Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State on Tuesday presented a 2015 budget estimates of N110 billion to the House of Assembly for its consideration.
Presenting the proposals, Shema said the budget was tagged: “Budget of accomplishment.”
He said N34.6 billion, representing 31 per cent of the budget, would be spent on recurrent expenditure,while N75.4 billion, representing 69 per cent of the estimates, was earmarked for capital expenditure.
Shema said the state government was expecting about N70 billion from the Federation Account, N15 billion as Internally Generated Revenue, N4 billion as Capital Receipts and N20 billion opening balance.
He said the 2015 budget was lower than that of 2014 by N3.4 billion due to anticipated shortfall in revenue generation.
The governor said the 2014 budget had recorded 80 per cent implementation and urged people to continue to support the administration’s policies in its efforts to move the state forward.
He urged the lawmakers to pass the budget in time to enable government provide more dividends of democracy.
In his remarks, the Speaker, Alhaji Ya’u Gwajo-gwajo, assured of speedy passage of the budget for the development of the state.
Gwajo-gwajo said the lawmakers would continue to join hands with the executive arm to provide more dividends of democracy to people of the state.
He urged ministries and other government agencies to prepare for budget defence to enhance speedy passage of the budget.
