The National Executive Committee (NEC) of Young Progressives Party (YPP) has approved the cost of forms and a timetable for the conduct of its congresses, primaries, and national convention ahead of the 2027 general election.
This was contained in a communiqué by YPP’s National Publicity Secretary, Martins Egbeola, after the 25th NEC meeting on Friday.
The meeting was held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The party also fixed N50 million for presidential nomination fee, N20 million for governorship, N8 million for Senate, N3 million for House of Representatives, and N1.5 million for House of Assembly.
The communiqué stated that the NEC ratified the timetable for conducting the party’s congresses, primaries, and national convention in line with its constitutional provisions and electoral guidelines.
It added that ward congresses would hold on May 21, local government congresses on May 22, and state congresses on May 23, while the House of Assembly primaries had been scheduled for May 24.
Other scheduled activities, according to the communique, include House of Representatives and Senate primaries, May 25; governorship primaries, May 26; and convention with presidential primaries, May 30.
It further disclosed that NEC approved free expression of interest forms for aspirants seeking various elective positions on the party’s platform across the country.
Part of NEC’s approval was a 50 percent concession on nomination fees for aspirants below 40 years and women as well as persons living with disabilities to encourage broader political participation.
The party announced that sale of nomination forms had commenced immediately, urging interested aspirants to obtain necessary documents and comply with stipulated guidelines for participation.
The communiqué also stated that the party had zoned the position of Anambra State chairman to Anambra Central Senatorial District, with the state secretary position remaining in Anambra South Senatorial District.
It said: “NEC approved a three-day membership drive aimed at significantly increasing party registration nationwide, with emphasis on grassroots mobilisation and strengthening the party’s national presence.

“All state chairmen and stakeholders were urged to actively participate and mobilise members to ensure the success of the membership drive initiative across the country.”
It added that elections at all party levels would be conducted, using both consensus and direct primary methods, in accordance with the party’s constitution and Electoral Act.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to deepening internal democracy and strengthening its structures ahead of the forthcoming electoral activities to ensure transparency, inclusiveness and credible outcomes.
The party, however, expressed concern over what it described as worsening insecurity nationwide, particularly the alarming rise in kidnapping incidents affecting communities across different regions of the country.
While condemning the continued loss of lives, including military personnel, it called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action to address the situation.
