The United States Mission in Nigeria has told Nigerian visa applicants to rely exclusively on official government sources for accurate and up-to-date information on travel requirements and application procedures and updates.
The US Department of State disclosed this in a travel advisory issued via its X handle on Monday.
It says visa rules, categories, and requirements are subject to regular updates and should be verified through its official website, travel.state.gov, which provides comprehensive guidance for both immigrant and non-immigrant visa applicants.
The portal contains details on application steps, required documentation, interview procedures, processing timelines, and country-specific eligibility requirements.

According to the mission, relying on unofficial sources can lead to misinformation, delays, or errors in the application process.

Applicants are also advised to confirm requirements with their nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate before submitting applications or planning travel.
The advisory aims to improve compliance, reduce errors, and ensure travelers follow the correct procedures when applying for U.S. visas.
