A University of Buckingham, UK law student, who was selected by the prestigious FACE OF THE GLOBE organization to represent Nigeria at a beauty pageant in Disneyland, Paris, France, Princess Adaeze Nwaji, has said only collaboration between the haves and the have-nots can help to end global poverty.
In an electronic statement sent to newsmen on Monday, the Nigeria’s representative at the international pageant promised to use her exposure and fame to further the cause of the underprivileged and disadvantaged members of the society.
Princess Nwaji, who expressed joy at her appointment as an Ambassador of Arm of Hope Foundation, a nongovernmental and non-profit organization founded by Apostle Eugene Ogu, said: “Face of the Globe is not just a beauty pageant, but a big family working to support the less privileged. It is committed to promoting equality and diversity to further empower and inspire.
“My recognition and endorsement by Arm Of Hope Foundation is a great opportunity to work with like minds and empower the deprived majority. The foundation prides itself in empowering widows, providing shelter for displaced Boko Harm victims. It is committed to educating young leaders as our country can only be built by educating the leaders of tomorrow.
“I sincerely admire and appreciate Arm of Hope volunteers and partners all over the world. Arm of hope foundation is one of the charity organisations in Nigeria that have touched lives of the less privileged tremendously. I feel honoured to be associated with Arm of Hope foundation.”
According to Nwaji, the “pageantry has afforded me great opportunities and platform to express issues I am most passionate about. I intend to give back to the society as much as possible.
“Today, we admire social welfare system in other countries. We must remember that their charity organisations were the hope of the common citizens before their welfare system developed.
“We must join hands together as a people to assist our NGOs and charity organisations because, we can do a lot for each other. To be honest, I care less about how much water went down the bridge because, all I can see is a New Nigeria. It will take a while to sanitise our fatherland however, it takes you and I to make Nigeria great again.”
The statement however highlighted Nwaji’s chance at the Paris finals, saying: “I have been preparing, I have been reading and working on my catwalk and doing other fundraising activities.”
