Danbatta who was the Keynote Speaker at the dinner hosted by the Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Media Merit Award, NMMA, to flag-off the commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of NMMA as Africa’s foremost media excellence recognition institution, at the Lagos Sheraton Hotel on Tuesday, said this is why the telecom regulator holds the media at very high esteem.

Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta, who disclosed this at the 2022 edition of Youth Civil Society and Stakeholders Summit (YCSSS), which took place midweek at the Army Resource Centre, Abuja, expressed worry over how the incidents have continued to affect the Quality of Experience, (QoE), of consumers, and called for concerted efforts by the members of the public, and security agencies, to stem the tide.

Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Prof. Umar Danbatta, who disclosed this earlier Tuesday (August 9, 2022) at the beginning of a three-day public inquiry on five telecom regulations and guidelines which began in Abuja, said emerging technologies and advancements in the sector demand that the Commission is prepared to match these developments with appropriate regulations and guidelines. 

The EVC will be speaking on the theme: “5G: Exploring New Frontiers for Superior Service Delivery,” which leans heavily on the buzz around 5G that if harnessed to its fullest potential, will feed the accelerated rise of the Internet of Things, enabling a smarter and more connected world

Prof. Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice-Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, made this known at signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nigerian Communications Satellite on clearing of C-band for deployment of 5G services on Wednesday in Abuja.
