Speaking at a press conference to sensitize the public on the importance of  year 2021 Annual Walk for Nature on Monday at Alausa, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello called for a behavioural change in favour of biodiversity conservation, adding that as people conserve biodiversity around them, they conserve their lives.

Addressing the media at Alausa on the preparedness for heavy rainfalls which resume in September and the release of water from the Oyan Dam, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello said the capacity of primary and secondary drains have been enhanced through consistent cleaning and clearing to contain run offs.

Speaking at an advocacy  programme on Wetlands and Biodiversity Conservation for Lagos East Senatorial District  held at the Afe Babalola Hall, University  of Lagos, Akoka,  Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello said such awareness is required in order to foster community participation in Wetlands management across the state.

The President applauded Bello, who he described as an accomplished journalist, political scientist, lawyer and public administrator, adding that he has shown that through dint of hard work and the grace of God, the door of success remains wide open.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources,  Tunji Bello in a statement on Saturday in commemoration of the year 2021 Biodiversity Day, said the greatest problems facing biological diversity today are habitat destructions, over exploitation, pollution and global climate change.
