The legal instrument designed to unleash intense heat on human traffickers and their cohort operating within the corridors of the two Countries was signed in Abuja at the climax of the 3rdNigeria /Burkina Faso Joint Commission held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja and was witnessed by an array of dignitaries from both Counties including the Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Dr Fatima Waziri – Azi.

Delivering judgment on Tuesday, Justice Jane Inyang convicted Idananke after he pleaded guilty to the two-counts preferred against him by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

Dr. Waziri-Azi stated that the successful arrest, prosecution and conviction of the high profile individuals involved in the illicit business of human trafficking will serve as a major deterrent to other people in the unlawful endeavour.

As such, he said there is the urgent need to unbundle and expand the scope of the activities of NAPTIP to be able to render mega rehabilitation services that will meet the needs and expectation of the victims and scale up its awareness and sensitization strategies.
