In a statement by its President, Mustapha Isah, and General Secretary, Iyobosa Uwugiaren, the NGE said the Federal Government’s action has the unintended consequence of jeopardising the economic interests of many Nigerians who rely on the social media platform for vital information to make informed business decisions daily.

Reacting to the election of the new executives of the NGE, the former Vice President advised the new Guild leaders to “demonstrate courage by speaking out on behalf of the ordinary Nigerians who have no voice in the face of excruciating challenges of existence.

Speaking during an inspection tour of some projects executed by Gov. Ugwuanyi’s administration, when the standing committee of the Guild of Editors held its meeting in Enugu recently, the President of the body, Mustapha Isah, said that the governor’s massive rural development projects are commendable and worthy of emulation.

The Guild, in a statement co-signed by its President, Mustapha Isah, and General Secretary, Mary Atolagbe, wished Dantiye, whom it described as a detribalised Nigerian, many more years filled with wisdom and good health in his continuous service to the Nigerian media industry and the country at large.

In a statement signed by the Guild’s President, Mustapha Isah, and General Secretary, Mary Atolagbe, the NGE said its stick arose from Nda-Isaiah’s sudden death because he attended a meeting of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria in Lagos on Tuesday before his death on Friday.
