Kehinde Adedoye, the Independent Corrupt Practise and Other Related Offences Commission Prosecutor, had told the court that the defendant had on September 16, 2017 unlawfully demanded sexual benefits for marks from Monica Osagie.
He is to be arraigned for allegedly demanding sex from one of his students, Monica Osagie, in order to upgrade her academic result from fail to pass.
According to the students’ body, the decision is in-line with the Federal Government’s stand against human rights abuse in the country.
The investigation is sequel to senate’s resolution on a motion by Senator Biodun Olujimi at plenary entitled: “The Growing Trend of Sexual Harassment in the Higher Institutions of Learning: The Case of Monica Osagie”.
The News Agency of Nigeriareports that one Monica Osagie, a student in the Master of Business Programme at OAU, had alleged that a lecturer, Prof. Richard Akindele, deliberately failed her when she rejected his request for sex.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Osagie had appeared before the committee set up by the institution’s authorities in company with her counsel.
Osagie, a postgraduate student in the Masters of Business programme, had released a recorded telephone conversation, which went viral, in which the lecturer identified as Prof. Richard Akindele, allegedly demanded sex for marks.
