At the 16th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC), the President, who is Chairman of the Summit of Heads of State and Government, said the threat by terrorists in the region had been relatively brought under control, while the influx of weapons poses fresh challenges.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that other sub-regional leaders participating in the summit include the Presidents of Niger Republic, Mohamed Bazoum and Central African Republic, Prof. Faustin Touadera.
Maj.-Gen. Chikezie Ude, Field Commander, Multinational Joint Task Force, on Boko Haram insurgency, said operations of the team were currently being executed by 10,250 military personnel.
Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in a statement in Abuja, said the meeting of the Heads of State and Government of the LCBC would take place in N’Djamena, Chad, on Thursday.
