According to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Olayinka Oyebode, Fayemi communicated the decision to members of the council during Wednesday’s meeting at the Executive Council Chamber, Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti

Fayemi, who, together with President Goodluck Jonathan, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State and Chief Bisi Akande joined other world leaders to grace the inauguration ceremony in Accra, the capital of Ghana, noted that the government and people of Ekiti State are proud to associate with Mahama who holds a honorary doctorate degree from the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti

Fayemi stated that there was hardly any part of the state which has not benefitted from the programmes of his administration, even as the projects executed in the year were in consonance with the requests made by communities during the town hall meetings held last year

The governor recalled the roles played by Adetiloye during the long struggle to enthrone democracy by standing on the side of the people in the dark days of the Gen. Sani Abacha-led junta which earned him the sobriquet of “NADECO Bishop.”

The first challenge of change that we faced in office therefore was how to restore and rebuild public trust in governance; how to re-create the necessary institutional architecture required to deliver change; how to implement policies that would combat poverty, inequality, unemployment, the diversification of the economy and industrialisation; how to promote democratic governance; and how to provide social security
