Two suicide attacks in Borno and Yobe States on Tuesday left no fewer than 38 persons dead.
This was as the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, in a new video vowed that elections will not hold in Nigeria and that the insurgent group will outlast Nigeria’s neighbours, Chad and Niger, in the move to curtail the group’s activities.
“This election will not be held even if we are dead,” Shekau said in a new video.
Three persons on Tuesday detonated explosives at a checkpoint at Yamarkumi village, near the town of Biu, at about 1pm.
No fewer than 36 persons were killed.
In Potiskum, Yobe State, a bomber blew himself up inside Al-Amir restaurant.
The restaurant manager and a steward were killed.
Thirteen 13 staff and customers were also seriously injured.
