A soldier and three suspected members of dreaded sect, Boko Haram, have been confirmed killed in Maiduguri, Borno State during a clash between the military and Boko Haram members.
In a statement on Wednesday, the spokesman of the Joint Task Force in Borno State, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, said the military, acting on information, carried out a cordon and search operation at Bulabulin Ganram area of Maiduguri Metropolis, with the suspected Boko Haram members resisting the move.
The gun battle, which Musa said occurred around 12:30pm, led to the death of three of the insurgents and one soldier.
Another soldier was also reported injured.
The statement also revealed that one member of the JTF, who is an immigration personnel, was missing in the process.
The statement added that 31 members of Boko Haram were arrested, while one AK 47 Rifle, one G 3 rifle as well as some quantity of assorted magazines and ammunition were recovered from the scene.
Efforts, according to the statement, are being made to find out the whereabout of the missing JTF personnel.
