The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the former President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), Maureen Chigbo, and her family over the demise of her elder sister and an Abuja-based lawyer, Nwamaka Chigbo.
He described the death of Chigbo, who was reported to have died at the hands of yet-to-be-identified kidnappers in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on January 5, 2025 as a colossal loss to the deceased’s family and legal profession and Nigeria.
Governor Sanwo-OLu spoke in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile.
He sympathised with the entire family, friends, clients and associates of the deceased, who was a former President of the Catholic Lawyers Association, Abuja.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also sent his condolences to the Nigerian Bar Association, International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Global Association of Female Lawyers (GAFA), and Catholic Lawyers Association over the death of one of their active members.

He said: “It is with a deep sense of sorrow that I commiserate with the former President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), Maureen Chigbo, and her family on the passing of her elder sister, Barr. (Mrs.) Nwamaka Chigbo. I also sympathise with legal practitioners in the country over the death of one of their members.
“No doubt, the death of a loved one is a painful episode in our lives because it is irreparable, but we must always take solace in God for a good life spent by the deceased person. The late Nwamaka Chigbo lived a good life and made a positive impact during her lifetime.
“I pray that God will grant the soul of our beloved Nwamaka eternal rest and comfort her immediate family, friends, colleagues and associates.”
