The Edo State Governor and flag bearer of the Action Congress of Nigeria in the July 14, 2012 gubernatorial election in the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has announced his deputy, Dr. Pius Odubu, as his running mate.
The governor, who disclosed this in Benin City at the campaign headquarters of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, said the choice of Odubu was arrived at after extensive consultations and in line with the guidelines of the ACN.
According to him, “There is no need to change a winning team since the present administration within the last three years and four months has made tremendous impact on the lives of the people.”
He disclosed that the campaign for the election has been christened “Voters Mobilisation Exercise, adding that a former Secretary to Edo State Governor and South South Senatorial leader of the party, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, is to serve as the Director General of the campaign organisation while Barrister Henry Idahagbon is to function as Secretary, and the Secretary of the ACN, Chief Osaro Idah, will be Edo South co-ordinator of the campaign organisation.
The governor added that the Board of the campaign organisation will be headed by a national leader of the ACN, Chief Tom Ikimi.
Members of the campaign organisation will include Hon. Charles Idahosa; Prince Malik Afegbua’ Mrs. Modino Emovon’ Edo State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Uyi Igbe’ state Chairman of the ACN, Hon. Thomas Okosun’ a former chairman of the party, Prince Tony Omoaghe’ the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Dr. Simon Imuekheme; and the Chief of Staff, Barrister Osarodion Ogie.
Oshiomhole emphasised that the crack team of the campaign organisation is set to make a statement that election in this country should be based on issues, just as he appealed to the media to be objective in their reportage.
Odubu, in an interview with newsmen, said he is highly elated by his choice and pledged to remain loyal and committed to the party.
