Less than 48 hours after the Oyo State Government lifted the ban on the activities of the National Union of Road Transport workers in the state, members of two factions of the union engaged themselves in a bloody fight in Ibadan, the state capital.
It was learnt that the factions fought under the bridge at Academy Bus Stop.
The scene of the clash was about 100 metres from the Olomi state office of the union.
It was gathered that the clash was over the control of a garage in the vicinity.
Though described as a minor clash, it was learnt that members of the contending factions were injured.
Passers by scampered for safety while the clash lasted, with traffic coming to a halt on both sides of the road.
The officials of the union, however, denied there was any clash.
In lifting the ban on the activities of the NURTW in the state, the government had elicited promises from the union that there would be no more violence in the running of its affairs.
Indeed, it took the intervention of the national leadership of the union for the state government to accede to the request to lift the ban on the activities of the NURTW.
