No fewer than 20 suspects have been arrested in connection with the recent violence in Lafia, the Nasarawa State Police Command said on Monday.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ugochukwu Theodore, while briefing reporters, said the suspects and others now at large engaged in disturbance of public peace on November 16, 17 and 18, 2014 in the state capital.
Theodore said the suspects who are from different ethnic groups, set houses, shops and other property ablaze during the violence.
According to him, they also caused the death of some innocent citizens of the state, promising they will soon be charged to court.
The PPRO called for more support from the general public, urging voluntary information that could assist the police.
He said security is the responsibility of all.
Theodore said the suspects include Amos Alu, Ibrahim Yahuza, Hamza Jibrin, Faisal Sani, Isa Abdullahi and 15 others.
