A trader, Olalekan Oloku, 32, who allegedly stole a bag of stockfish valued at N120,000, was on Friday brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
The defendant appeared in court on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP Freddy Asu, had told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 20, 2022 about 4:10pm at Oyingbo Market, Ebute Meta.
He told the court that the defendant stole a bag of stockfish valued at N120,000 belonging to a complainant, Helen Ogwu.
The offences, he said, contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015(Revised).
The Chief Magistrate, A. Akindele, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Akindele adjourned the case until September 3 for mention.
