The Management of the Lagos State University, Ojo on Friday said that plans were on to restore Internet facilities damaged by rainfall in its four campuses.
According to an official bulletin of the institution, the facilities were damaged on April 10, 2013.
The bulletin, obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria, said that a Memorandum of Understanding had been signed by the university with MainOne Cable to effect the repairs.
It said that progress had been made by MainOne Cable, the telecommunication company handling the project.
The bulletin quoted a representative of MainOne Cable, Damola Solanke, as saying that “the earthen” had been completed in all the campuses to forestall a recurrence.
Adewale Adepoju, the Senior System Analyst, Information, Communication and Technology Unit of the institution, confirmed to NAN that the Internet facilities would be reinstalled soon.
According to Adepoju, the unit is collaborating with MainOne to ensure the reinstallation.
He said: “At the moment, the Internet is at a test run phase.
“The reception is excellent in some part.
“It is not in others, but the Zenith ICT will also be in use soon.
“The ICT teams are working in conjunction with MainOne to ensure that the Internet is accessed by staff and students.”
Adepoju said that MainOne was expected to generate a total of 25 megabyte per second from which five MBps would be dropped in Surulere, Epe and Ikeja campuses.
