Super Eagles’ coach, Stephen Keshi has pleaded with Nigerians to forgive his team following their 3-2 loss to their Congolese counterparts at the UJ Esuene Stadium, on Saturday.
The AFCON 2013 winning coach stated that the loss a wake up call for the team to thrive harder in their remaining games in the qualifier.
His words: “I saw this defeat coming but it was too close to salvage the situation. However, I believe it is a wake up call for all of us. So, we must work hard to qualify and defend the African Cup of Nations trophy.
“We must put back our qualification on track by picking some points in South Africa on Wednesday. I know all hopes are not lost and we are appealing to Nigerians to keep supporting us,” he pleaded.
Keshi admitted that his boys approached the game poorly which gave their opponents the opportunity to hit them on the break.
The African Champions will to jet out of the country on Monday to keep date a date with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Cape Town.
The Eagles with no points are third behind South Africa and Congo while Sudan are placed fourth in the qualifying group.
