A former Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dr. Joe Abah, has hailed the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Controller General of the Nigeria Customs Service for the introduction of the E-Gate system at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Abah, who gave kudos also to the entire NIS team, said this on his return from a journey that took him through the NAIA, Abuja.
The internationally recognised expert in governance and institutional reforms, political economy analysis and change management, who spoke on his X handle, said it took him a short time to go through clearance at the airport unlike what obtained before the introduction of the E-Gate.
He wrote on February 27, 2025: “This morning, I landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja. We were directed to a section for Nigerian passport holders.

“Before me were e-gates, similar to the ones at Heathrow Airport.
“I simply scanned my passport and it opened one gate for me.
“Then I took off my cap and glasses and it scanned my face and opened the second gate.
“That’s it!
“I was in!!
“No long queues.
“No excessive greeting from any immigration officer asking me what I brought back for them.
“Less than 1 minute and I was in!!!

“I am proud of you both.
