The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) has urged Nigerians to embrace unity and harmonious relationships as Christians and Muslims observe Lent and Ramadan simultaneously.
In a statement issued Wednesday in Abuja and signed by its Director-General, Joseph Ochogwu, the institute described the rare coincidence as a unique opportunity to promote love, tolerance and peaceful coexistence across religious divides.
IPCR said the overlap presents a moment for deeper interfaith dialogue and mutual respect, especially amid ongoing security challenges and social tensions in the country.
“The coincidence of Ramadan and Lent is a reminder that despite our differences, we share a common humanity and national identity.

“By working together, we can build a more united, peaceful, and prosperous Nigeria,” the statement said.
The institute urged Nigerians to reject extremist interpretations of religion and instead emphasise moral teachings that unite communities.
It added that true devotion to God is reflected in how individuals treat their neighbours, regardless of religious differences.
“Let us use this opportunity to promote love, unity, and tolerance, and build a brighter future for all Nigerians.
“We wish Nigerians Christians and Muslims happy Lent and Ramadan,” the statement added.
