The National Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), Samuel Ikpea, says he is confident that the Super Eagles will qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ikpea told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday that the club, now in its 70th year, has intensified mobilisation ahead of the CAF Intercontinental Playoff.
The Super Eagles are expected to face Gabon in the CAF Intercontinental Playoff scheduled for Thursday in Rabat, Morocco.
Ikpea said: “We have been in the business of supporting our national teams for a very long time.
“As many know, this year marks 70 years of supporting both the male and female national teams.”

He described the playoff as a “make or mar” fixture and said the club was doing everything possible to ensure massive support for the team.
“In preparation for the CAF play-off, we and all Nigerians know that this is a crucial game,” he said.
He added that the NFSC had mobilised members both at home and abroad to travel to Morocco and support the team.
Ikpea said: “We have done everything to ensure we storm Morocco in large numbers and provide maximum support for the team.
“We are not going to Morocco only to sing and chant, but also to provide strong moral and spiritual backing for the Eagles.”
He explained that the supporters would combine their usual chants with prayers for the team’s success in Morocco.
He expressed optimism that the team would deliver the result needed to reach the global tournament.
He said: “The Super Eagles will make it to the World Cup.
“I am very positive about their qualification.”
Ikpea recalled predicting after Nigeria’s Independence Day that the Super Eagles would bounce back after their struggles.
“The team showed strong character in their last home match against Benin in Uyo and will take that form into the playoff.
“We cannot write the Super Eagles off. God has a way of making things happen.
“They will surely bounce back.”
Ikpea said the Super Eagles played well against Benin and would maintain that momentum in Morocco.
He added: “The players are Europe-based, so the venue in Morocco will favour us, especially regarding the weather.
“We have a good and favourable climate there, and the Eagles will play with speed and confidence to win the game.”
The Super Eagles are bidding to return to the World Cup after missing the 2022 edition in Qatar.
Nigeria must beat Gabon in Thursday’s playoff to reach Sunday’s final of the CAF Intercontinental Playoff.
A win on Sunday would leave the Super Eagles one hurdle away from qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, to be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
