Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ending banditry and restoring lasting peace throughout the state.
The governor gave the assurance on Wednesday while declaring open the 9th regular meeting of the State Executive Council (SEC) at the Government House, Sokoto.
According to him, the state government has continued to provide security agencies with the necessary support and logistics to intensify the fight against criminality in affected local government areas.
“We have equally introduced new strategies that, by Allah’s will, will help us end banditry in Sokoto State,” Aliyu stated.
He described insecurity as a major threat that has crippled socio-economic activities in some communities, but assured residents that his administration is fully committed to tackling the menace.
The governor also appealed for the support and cooperation of citizens in the collective fight against crime.
On governance, Aliyu directed commissioners to embark on regular inspection of contracts awarded under their ministries to ensure quality execution.

“By doing so, you will be able to assess the standard of work being delivered by contractors. We will not tolerate substandard projects or undue delays. Standards must never be compromised,” he said.
The governor stressed that the people of Sokoto, who overwhelmingly voted for the All Progressives Congress (APC), deserve quality projects and sustainable development that reflect their mandate.
He thanked residents for their continued support and prayers, promising to deliver more dividends of democracy to all parts of the state.
