The Kogi State Sector Command, Federal Road Safety Commission, Olakunle Motajo, has confirmed the death of two persons in an auto crash on the Lokoja-Abuja Road on Monday night.
Motajo told newsmen in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, on Tuesday that the accident occurred at Alede Village.
Motajo said that the accident involved two vehicles, a Toyota Carina car with registration number Kogi AR 556 LKJ and a Volvo truck with registration Lagos XQ 540 JJJ.
He said that two vehicles, coming from opposite direction on high speed, had head-on collision.
The sector commander said that two people, a man and a woman, died on the spot, while three others were injured.
He attributed the accident to “excessive speed and wrongful overtaking.”
Motajo said that a team of FRSC officials and policemen arrived at scene immediately after the accident to evacuate the injured victims to a nearby hospital.
He said that the corpses of the two passengers were deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.
