Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has advised Lagosians to re-elect the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during the March 11, 2023 governorship poll.

Fayose said this when he spoke on the outcome of the 2023 presidential election on Arise TV on  Wednesday evening.

He said Lagos as the economic capital of Nigeria has a lot of challenges that requires someone like Sanwo-Olu at the helm of affairs.

The former Ekiti State Governor, who renounced his party, Peoples Democratic Party, during the interview, said the incumbent was more suited for the task despite the fact that the PDP had a candidate for the poll in the person of Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, and popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, as his running mate.

Fayose thinks the duo do not have the credentials to govern Lagos and its challenges as governor and deputy governor.

He described them as “people doing theatre”, adding that it was better for Lagosians to reelect Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Fayose saidL “Lagos is like the head of a fish, not Abuja.

“Abuja is the capital of our country, but the economic capital of Nigeria is Lagos.

“I said it here from today, I step aside because I want to be talking like a leader in this country.

“To me, (President Muhammadu) Buhari is now lame duck, he is on his way out.

“But let me tell you, the PDP candidate in Lagos, to me, they are people doing theatre.

“Lagos business is a serious business.

“There are a lot of challenges in Lagos.

“So I enjoin everybody in Lagos to return Sanwo-Olu.”
