English Premier League club, Everton, have reportedly identified Super Eagles and FC Braga of Portugal defender, Elderson Echiejile, as Leighton Baines’s replacement, should the left-back move to Manchester United.
Banies has been a target for United for the majority of the summer, with former Manager, David Moyes, keen to bring him to Old Trafford.
But the Toffes have since earmarked Nigerian Echiejile as a possible signing if Baines moves to the champions, The Eagle Online has gathered.
The Braga defender has a release clause in his contract for £4m, but could be available for around £1.5m, as the 25-year-old has just one year left on his current deal with the Portuguese side.
Echiejile was part of the Nigeria squad that took part in the Confederations Cup back in June.
