EPL: Arsenal blow two-goal lead to Crystal Palace

Arsenal let a two-goal lead at home to Crystal Palace slip and had a late winner disallowed by VAR.
The Gunners went 2-0 up in the first 10 minutes with goals from both centre-backs before a Luka Milivojevic penalty and Jordan Ayew header cancelled out the advantage.
Kieran Tierney was handed his Premier League debut for Arsenal as Unai Emery named Nicolas Pepe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in attack against Crystal Palace.
The Gunners made nine changes from their 3-2 Europa League victory over Vitoria as Pepe was rewarded with a start having come off the bench to score twice.
Tierney signed from Celtic in the summer but was recovering from a groin injury and, having worked his way back to fitness, he has now been deemed ready to make his Premier League bow.
Lacazette is also back from an ankle problem and looked rusty against Vitoria but retained his place against the Eagles.
Wilfried Zaha started for the visitors having been heavily linked with a summer move to the Emirates Stadium.
Andros Townsend came in as Roy Hodgson made only one alteration from the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City and Jeffrey Schlupp dropped to the bench.
Arsenal struck twice in the first 10 minutes to take a 2-0 lead against Crystal Palace.
Both goals came from corners and both were scored by centre-backs as first Sokratis Papastathopoulos swept in from close range following Granit Xhaka’s header after seven minutes.
Two minutes later, David Luiz was on hand to finish from Pepe’s whipped corner.
Palace pulled a goal back in the 32nd minute when the ever-reliable Luka Milivojevic slotted home from the penalty spot.
The penalty was awarded following a VAR check for a foul on Wilfried Zaha, with the Palace winger initially having been booked for diving
Palace drew level in their match at the start of the second half, Jordan Ayew heading in James McArthur’s cross to make it 2-2 against the Gunners.
Arsenal made their first change in the 61st minute when Granit Xhaka was replaced by Bukayo Saka.
It was the second successive Premier League game that Xhaka had been taken off and there were big cheers from the crowd as Saka came on to take his spot.
With the supporters also seemingly encouraging Xhaka to hurry off the pitch, the Switzerland midfielder waved his arms, cupped his ear and appeared to swear twice before tearing off his shirt as he made his way down the tunnel.
Arsenal thought they reclaimed the lead against Palace when Sokratis netted his second of the match.
The Greece defender fired home with seven minutes to go following a Pepe corner but it was disallowed by VAR.
