Eaglets versus Iran will be explosive – NFF

The Director of the Technical Department of the Nigeria Football Federation, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, has tipped the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria to beat Iran in Tuesday’s second round match of the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
The round of 16 of the match, which will produce a quarter-finalist, will be decided between Nigeria and Iran in Al Ain at 5pm local time and 2pm Nigerian time.
The Technical boss of the NFF is optimistic that the Eaglets will be victorious at the end of the match today.
Ikpeme said: “I am impressed with what the boys have done.
“When they played against Sweden, coming from behind to played a 3-3 draw showed that they are a team with strong character and quality and they could only get better with time.
“They have showed that they are African Champions.
“Forget that they did not win the African Championship in Morocco.
“The fact remains now that they are clearly in contention for the U-17 World Cup and it’s the team Africa is banking on to do well in this competition.”
The NFF Technical boss is also banking on the massive support the team is enjoying in Al Ain to propel them to victory in today’s match.
He added: “We are going to meet Iran in the round of 16 tomorrow (today).
“We have an advantage as regards the venue the match would be played.
“The Golden Eaglets is currently enjoying great support in Al Ain, which will go a long way in boosting the performance of the team against their Iran opponent.
“Another thing that will fire up the team to beat Iran tomorrow (today) is the fact that these boys want to make names for themselves and wants their names written in gold.
“That is a critical point.
“I mean making names in the colours of Nigeria.
“I see a situation where the Eaglets team will make a tremendous progress.
“I see this team playing at the final.
“They are going to take each team in this competition as they come.
“At each stage, this team would play will be a different ball game until they get to the final of the competition.
“I want Nigerians to rally round the team, wish the team injury free-competition, and also pray for them.
“I believe this team will surely make Nigerians proud.
“While playing the match against Iraq, we also have our men monitoring Iran versus Austria in Al Ain match.
“And we have learnt about the team and have also mapped out a good strategy to outwit them tomorrow (today).
“It is going to be an interesting match but I am confident the Eaglets will emerge victorious at the end of the day.”
