Frontline governorship aspirant in Lagos State on the platform of All Progressives Congress, Akinwumi Ambode, got a major boost to his candidacy on Thursday when he hosted members of the Lagos State House of Assembly to a dinner.
The private dinner was held on Thursday night in Ikeja, Lagos.
Apart from the massive attendance recorded at the dinner and the strategic consultation meeting that followed, the legislators also greeted Ambode’s passionate speech with a standing ovation that lasted for several minutes.
Thirty-six out 40 members of the House attended the event, a development that further affirms Ambode’s popularity and acceptability across board.
At the dinner, Ambode presented himself as an informed, articulate but humble candidate who does not only profess respect for the legislative arm of government but one who also submits himself totally to the authority and guidance of the party.
In addressing the members, he spoke about his desire to build on the achievements of former Governor Bola Tinubu and Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN), both of whom he worked with as Accountant General and Permanent Secretary in the state.
He also highlighted his core programmes under the acronym LAGOS – Leadership, Accountability, Good Governance, Opportunities and Service – and promised not to let the state down if he secures the party’s nod at the primaries on December 2.
Meanwhile, Ambode who had a talk-of-the-town declaration at the Onikan Stadium last month, will commence a tour of the 20 local government areas in Lagos State from this Monday.
According to a statement from the Media and Communications Team of the Akin Ambode Campaign Organisation, the tour of the local government areas is in furtherance of Ambode’s respect for party institutions and belief in reaching out to all and sundry.
