Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has felicitated with juju maestro, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
The governor, in a statement issued in Ibadan on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo, described the musician-turned-evangelist as an icon who has brought joy to the lives of many people through his soul-inspiring music.
“Evangelist Obey-Fabiyi is, by all standards, a well-talented musician and rare breed. Even when he decided to retire from secular music exactly a decade ago, his music has remained evergreen, touching the lives of many.
“As a servant of God, he has not wavered in propagating the gospel through music and his verse knowledge of the word of God,” he remarked.
According to the governor, there was no way any Yoruba man would not encounter Obey and his rich repertoire of deep Yoruba, stating that the musician was a cultural ambassador whom generations of Yoruba people cannot forget.
Ajimobi also described the musician as an epitome of humility, simplicity and industry, saying that he was a fulfilled man who was not given to material acquisition and vain glory.
While congratulating Obey-Fabiyi on his attainment of 70 eventful years on earth, the governor prayed God to imbue him with long life and good health so that he can continue to touch more lives through his melodious songs.
