Experts and decision-makers from both the public and private sectors will converge next Tuesday in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, to discuss how engineering and planning could help to enhance national security.
This was contained in a statement sent to The Eagle Online via email by the organisers of the programme on Wednesday.
The discussion at the 12th Waheed Kadiri Lecture Series being organised by the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), Ogun State Chapter will focus on the topic: “Designing safer Nigeria: Engineering, planning and the fight against insecurity.”
The event is scheduled for 11am at Ogun Pensioners Hall, opposite Waheed Kadiri House, NITP Ogun State Secretariat, off Moshood Abiola Way, Ijeun Lukosi, Abeokuta.
The Vice Chancellor, Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State, Prof. Jeremiah Ojediran, a Fellow of Nigerian Society of Engineers and Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers, is the guest speaker.
Ojediran is expected to bring his extensive experience in academia and practice to bear on the topic.
The Chairman, 12th Waheed Kadiri Lecture Organising Committee, Tpl Oladunjoye Arowosegbe, said the choice of topic for the lecture series was part of the institute’s contributions towards the development of the country.
Arowosegbe noted that the core objective of planning is to ensure a harmonious living environment, where individuals could attain self fulfilment in a sustainable way, thus the need to focus on insecurity, which has remained a major concern nationwide.
