Former Governor of Yobe State, Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, on Thursday declared that the incumbent Governor of Yobe State, Ibrahim Gaidam, should perish any ambition of coming to the Senate.
Bukar made this known while responding to a question on the senatorial ambition of the Governor, who is from the same senatorial district with him.
He said Governor Gaidam cannot challenge him for the senatorial seat and if he wants, he will slug it out with him
He said: “In any case, I am just 69 years old and very much interested in staying in the Senate as long as my health and energy carry me as senator representing people of Yobe East.
“The Governor has not told me that he is interested in the seat after expiration of his tenure next year and I don’t need to bother myself about it since I know that there would be no vacancy because I am recontesting for the position next year and I will continue to offer myself to my people for the position as long as I have the energy and sound health to represent them.”
Speaker on the 6,403 fresh projects allegedly inserted into the N9.12 trillion 2018 budget by the National Assembly, Senator Ibrahim admonished President Muhammadu Buhari to implement the ones that are implementable and leave the rest.
According to him, the President need not to border himself on any new projects included into the budget by the National Assembly but try as much as possible to do justice in terms of implementation to those projects he considers critical to the growth and development of the country, adding: “After all, since 1999, no president has ever achieved 100 per cent budget implementation.”
On his book billed for launch on July 23, 2018 in Abuja, the senator explained that the book, titled: “Poorlitics,” meaning the politics of the poor, is about project based progressive political leadership anchored on delivering value to people as a basis to win in democratic elections devoid of political thuggery and godfatherism.
