The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Hulayat Abiola Omidiran, has reasserted the Commission’s commitment to youth inclusion, equity, and fairness in public service, saying they remain central to its mandate.
Hon. Omidiran made this known when she received a delegation from the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), on Tuesday.
She received the delegation, led by the NYCN Deputy National President, Comrade Mukhtar Akosile, at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja.
She said: “We work for you.
“What we are doing here is for young Nigerians, as older generations are no longer in search of employment.
“If we get it right with the youth, the future of this country is secured.
“It is the foundation we lay today that they will build upon to become the kind of leaders we envision.”
Omidiran further emphasised the Commission’s commitment to youth engagement, noting that NYCN would be actively integrated into its activities.
She said: “We have a youth committee, and we will absorb NYCN into our activities, particularly on matters of critical importance to young Nigerians.

“At the FCC, we are focused on prompt action and result-oriented leadership that promotes inclusivity, equity, and national cohesion.”
Reaffirming the Commission’s zero tolerance for job racketeering, the FCC Chairman stressed that strict measures have been instituted to uphold integrity and due process.
Omidiran stated: “We are guided by fairness and equity.
“We do not tolerate bribery or job racketeering.
“We have instituted a whistleblowing mechanism to curb irregularities and ensure strict adherence to due process.”
Earlier, Akosile said the Council came to felicitate with the FCC Chairman, expressing appreciation for the renewed engagement between both institutions.
He said: “NYCN formally came to felicitate with you (Hon. Omidiran) and associate with your office, particularly following the invitation extended to us for the recent FCC induction workshop.
“An engagement of this nature that has not occurred in over a decade.”
He also emphasised the Council’s readiness to collaborate with the Commission in advancing youth-focused initiatives.
He said: “We want to be integrated into the activities of the FCC, particularly in serving as a bridge between the youth, the public, and the Commission through information sharing, feedback, and reporting the impact of its allocation of opportunities on young Nigerians.”
In attendance during the visit were Federal Commissioners of the FCC: Hon. Peter Eze (Enugu State), Hon. Muhammad Awwal Na’iya (Kano State), and Hon. Ibrahim Abdul Mairiga (Gombe State).
The NYCN delegation also included key officials such as the Chief of Staff to the Deputy President, Basah Mohammed.
