Nike Oshinowo-Soleye, the former beauty queen, recently revealed on Fabulous Personality, a celebrity programme on Television Continental, that she does not share bathroom with her hubby, Dr. Duro Soleye, despite the love that radiates between them.
According to her: “How will I share a bathroom with my husband when there are other bathrooms in the house?
“In the real sense of this word, bathroom is not meant to be shared because there are a whole lot of things to be done in there.”
The beauty queen, who also revealed that she doesn’t go to church because of distractions, further said that bathroom is not a swimming pool that could be shared between two people but rather meant for one person.
“That is the way I see it and my husband understands this,” Oshinowo-Soleye said.
Oshinowo was raised in Ibadan, Oyo State and England, United Kingdom where she attended boarding schools.
Although she had intended to become an air hostess or a medical doctor, she studied Politics at the University of Essex.
Shortly after obtaining her degree, Oshinowo-Soleye, who was mentored by former Miss Nigeria, Helen Prest-Davies, represented Rivers State at the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant and became its first Yoruba winner (she was crowned in December 1990, but reigned in 1991).
After her reign, which saw her compete at Miss World, Oshinowo-Soleye featured in a commercial for Venus cosmetics and hosted a fashion and beauty show on Nigerian television.
Her business ventures include an African restaurant and Skin Deep, a health and beauty spa, which ran for seven years before it was sold after she decided to create her own range of beauty products for the Nigerian market.
On January 17, 2010, she released the work out video: Nike Oshinowo: Fit, Forty and Fabulous – the first celebrity fitness DVD produced in the country.
She is currently working on the beauty products, which will include fragrance, skincare, and haircare.
Now in her 40’s, Oshinowo-Soleye, who is fluent in five languages, including Japanese and French, is hailed as a style icon in her homeland.
Although she had stated in previous interviews she had no plans to become a wife, Oshinowo-Soleye is now married to a medical doctor, Tunde Soleye.
In 2009, the couple was in the news following a lawsuit instituted by Soleye’s ex-wife, Funmilayo, who claimed that he had been unfaithful with Oshinowo-Soleye during their marriage.
In 2010, after a six-year attempt, Oshinowo-Soleye finally bought the Miss Nigeria franchise from former organizers, Daily Times, and became the chief executive and creative director of the pageant.
She was recently been replaced by former Miss Nigeria UK, Elohor Aisien.
