The Ekiti State Police Command had arrested two persons for burgling 16 houses and shops.
This was made known by the Command on its Twitter handle on Sunday, adding that exhibits had been recovered.
According to the statement, the operatives of the Command had one October 1, 2022 arrested one Segun Olamide, aka Confidence, for allegedly breaking into 16 houses and shops belonging to 16 different complainants within Ado-Ekiti and carting away numerous valuables.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime and mentioned one Olatunji Michael, who resides in Akure, Ondo State.
Operatives swung into action and arrested Michael.
However, three others mentioned by Olamide are currently at large.
The two suspects arrested led the police operatives to where they hid some of the stolen items, with the following recovered: 15 varieties of electronic appliances; 220 pairs of male and female shoes; 275 male and female clothes; assorted wines; provisions and foodstuffs; large quantity of women accessories and lingerie; different house properties; one bag containing three hammers, one wooden saw and a chisel.
The Command said while effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and recover more items, the two suspects arrested will be arraigned in court accordingly.
