Antoine Semenyo has expressed his desire to move to Manchester City in the January transfer window, as Chelsea withdrew from the race for the Bournemouth forward.
The development followed earlier reports that Chelsea had made late enquiry for the Ghana international.
The London club stepped back after reviewing its attacking options under head coach Enzo Maresca.
Available information further indicated that the withdrawal came after internal discussions on squad balance and future planning.
According to sources, the Blues are more likely to pursue attacking additions in the summer window, while also considering improved terms for key performers already in the squad.
Manchester City are understood to be leading the chase for the 25-year-old Bournemouth forward, who has attracted strong interest across the Premier League.
Manchester United had joined in contention, while Liverpool previously conducted due diligence and Tottenham also registered interest.

Semenyo is available for around £65m in January, though his release clause is expected to expire in the second week of the month.
Despite being born in west London and having an affiliation with Chelsea, that connection has not influenced the club’s final decision.
The forward, who scored 11 goals last season, has continued his strong form with eight goals in 16 appearances this campaign. His contract with Bournemouth runs until 2030.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has maintained that Semenyo remains fully focused on his responsibilities at the club despite increasing speculation over his future.
