In his goodwill message, Governor Soludo remarked that Christmas, which is a commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, represents the embodiment of hope, love, peace, and redemption, values that resonate significantly with our collective aspirations for a better society and nation.

The event held at Eagle Square, Abuja, on Sunday, saw the state winning the Overall Best School in Nigeria, won by Woliwo Primary School II, Onitsha; First Runner-up for Best Approved Private School awarded to Pinkberry International School, Odume, Obosi; First Runner-up for Approved Private Senior Secondary School won by Emmanuel Ndibe of St. Theresa’s Secondary School, Enugwu Ukwu; and First Runner-up for Best Approved Private Primary School Teacher, Nkechi Ikedi of Pinkberry International Primary School, Odume, Obosi.

That was Shakespeare in 1596. That was some 428 years ago today. I heard these eternal words, lying on that ubiquitous chair in our cramped one-room apartment at Number 14 Uzo Street, Ajegunle. I watched my elder brother perform that seminal delivery of Shakespeare’s King Richard 11. I was no more than 15 years. Today, as in many years, close to 50 years on, I still recount that enchanting episode in my mind’s-eye.
