Dankwambo who received by a tumultuous crowd from Gombe Airport to the PDP Secretariat in Gombe, later addressed journalists in his house, saying that the people of the state have been harassed and intimidated to submission by the ruling All Progressive Congress APC government.

Nwodo stated this when he led Igbo leaders from the 19 Northern states, including Abuja, on a courtesy call on Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State.
