According to Garba, the suspect abducted the minor near her residence at Hausa Quarters, Asaba and kept her in custody for two days at Okpoko in Onitsha.
Umar made the appeal when he spoke with the news Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Awka on the crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier against the Chipolopolo of Zambia at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar, said the dismissed policeman, Kenneth Chikwe, was arrested in Awka with bullet wounds after he allegedly dispossessed two people of Range Rover Sport Vehicle and Hilux Jeep at gunpoint.
Umar, who doubles as the Chairman of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Security in the state, gave the assurance during the meeting of the Committee at the Independent National Electoral Commission headquarters in Awka.
The suspect, who hailed from Ifite-Awka in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra, was arrested following information made available to the police by a vigilant resident of the community.
The appointment is deserving as the record showed that Umar is a seasoned sports administrator and security expert, a statement by Anthony Oji, Chimezie Anaso, Chairman and Secretary of SWAN, said.
Umar told newsmen on Monday that the number of arrest would not be disclosed so as not to jeopardise ongoing investigation into the massacre of 11 persons by unknown gunmen.
The governor expressed grief over the death of the worshippers, describing the attack as “barbaric, sacrilegious and totally unacceptable”, while also debunking speculations of possible invasion.
Umar told the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Awka that the arrests were clear signal that Anambra State was no longer a safe haven for criminals.
Umar said: “On the night of June 22, 2017, the suspect while on duty as a security guard, on the premises of a distributor to NBL located along Oko road, Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area, killed a person yet to be identified.
