Addressing several members of the factional group at Gazal Hotel in Osogbo, the state capital, the governorship candidate of the old SDP, Barrister Kehinde Atanda, and its State Chairman, Chief Ademola Ishola, urged all of them to go and cast their votes and also mobilize support for the lawfully recognized SDP candidate, Iyiola Omisore.
The Osun State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Friday stated that due process was followed in the emergence of its governorship flag bearer, Kehinde Atanda.
In a letter dated July 12, 2018 and signed by two of applicants to the suit filed at the Osun State High Court, Alhaji Rasheed Mayowa and Chief Azeez Alakinde-Ismaila, and addressed to the INEC National Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the party explained that all the congresses done by the Senator Iyiola Omisore’s group were against court orders.
Ishola re-affirmed that whatever congress anyone has held in the name of SDP in Osun State was illegal and an affront to the court, while hoping that the judiciary will firmly hold on to the rule of law.
Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Ademola Ishola, who disclosed this at a news conference in Osogbo, said Omisore’s governorship ambition was not known to the party.
Babatope, a former Minister of Transport, made the statement in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
