Nigeria’s professional table tennis player, Quadri Aruna, has reacted to his club’s victory in the Portuguese Table Tennis League, saying his career dream is becoming a reality.
Aruna spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday on how he helped his club, Sporting Clube De Portugal, to win the League Cup on Saturday.
Sporting Clube defeated GDCS Juncal 3-2 in the winner takes all game.
“I am proud of my achievement with the club within a short period,” Aruna, whose club had earlier won the Portuguese Super Cup, told NAN on telephone from Portugal.
He added: “I have only been here for a season.
“Before I joined the club, they haven’t won any trophy in the last four years.
“Just this season, we have won the Super Cup and the League Cup.
“I am very happy for contributing to the club successes.
“Its objectives in hiring me has materialised.”
Aruna played the deciding match.
The 2015 International Table Tennis Federation star player said he had left the victory behind and was now focusing on the upcoming competitions.
Aruba said: “Next weekend is the Portugal Cup and that’s my next target.
“I want to spring surprises by winning it also.
“I believe I have what it takes and I am in great shape to achieve it.
“All I seek is God’s mercy and favour to achieve what I have set my mind to.”
NAN reports that Aruna and fellow compatriot, Bode Abiodun, with Chem Diogo were instrumental to the club winning the League.
